    The Shipping Coordinator reports to the Plant Manager, and has the following responsibilities:

    • Set an example as a champion of safety & environmental compliance
    • Lead / point of contact for all Houston logistics issues
    • Responsible for providing support to warehouse operations and the production team and overall plant logistics (all outbound package and bulk shipments)
    • Work with production team and lab for available inventory – Monitors SAP for new Orders, and Creates Shipments and Deliveries in SAP
    • Connect with and schedule third party carriers to ensure on time delivery of product to customers
    • Schedule internal fleet/drivers for local deliveries to customers
    • Produce daily shipping schedules and managing any customer changes
    • Works closely with Corporate logistics to maximize shipping efficiencies and develop cost savings strategies and procedures/processes
    • Understands freight spend and works with Regional Logistics Team to optimize NA plant performance
    • Implement new carrier programs and strategies at the local level based on corporate guidance
    • Interfaces with Customer Service to improve teamwork between plant and Corporate teams
    • Responsible for maintaining and updating local logistics work instructions and procedures
    • Communicate and ensure compliance with all plant policies and procedures and maintain appropriate records
    • Lead investigation of any shipment issues or customer complaints related to carrier service or local team shipping deficiencies
    • Monitors local carrier performance and participates in carrier improvement efforts with 3rd Party Logistics provider
    • Develops and improves logistics process (loading detention, CASS invoices, etc.)
    • Works with Master Data to maintain accurate transit times in SAP
    • Assists in inventory cycle counts


    Required Skills:

    • Associate’s Degree or higher
    • 2+ years experience of operations in a manufacturing environment
    • Must possess good written and oral communication skills and be able to work with all levels of management.
    • Willing and able to be on call for changes to schedules and emergencies 
    • Intermediate proficiency using with Microsoft Office:Word, Outlook, and Excel
    • Computer skills including SAP or similar program preferred.
    • Knowledge of safe work practices, environmental and safety rules and regulations.
    • Must be detailed oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to effectively interact with plant personnel, third party logistics team and carriers, and internal functional groups.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 7+ years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment with shipment scheduling experience 
    • Demonstrated customer service skills and mindset 
    • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority 
    • Demonstrated facilitation across stakeholder groups to achieve resolution of issues and consensus 
    • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, and equipment usage.
