    Regional SBU Managers are responsible for providing Strategic Business Unit (SBU) leadership within their assigned region to effect profitable growth. Specifically, they are responsible for the profitable growth of their assigned product lines within the SBU. Key jobs that they are accountable for are:

    1. Managing the portfolio in alignment with the Global SBU Directors / Global SBU Mgmt.
    2. Optimize local product portfolio to compete in the market
    3. Executing and Supporting pricing strategy in alignment with Global SBU Mgmt
    4. Optimize profitability through cost management (making right products at right assets, regional supply strategy, managing through supply constraints)
    5. Partnering with sales in key deals/proposal development to increase win rate
    6. Manage “backend” product processes and act as point person for all coordinating teams on Regulatory/Supplier Issues, New Product Introductions, etc.

    They closely work with Product Regulatory, Product Support, Planning, Pricing and Applications in assisting in the following areas:

    1. Raw Material Management, Inventory management, regional production strategy
    2. Maintaining core pricebook, and ensuring correct and timely updates for their region
    3. Critical Account Product Planning – Product changes, raw material changes, etc.

    Regional SBU Managers own the tactical product management actions and regional execution of product lifecycle strategy.  They provide regional guidance and input to the Global SBU Directors with a high visibility to senior management.  They own the regional SBU forecasting process and play a strong role in upgrading the overall product mix towards more differentiated and higher margin products.


    Developing optimized product portfolio to compete in the market: Optimize the regional product portfolio for the respective product lines in order to ensure that we are competitive regionally and being positioned to accelerate margin improvement.  This will involve:

    • Leading Rationalization of product slate while working with the business
    • Providing input on product differentiation within the region
    • Developing (and maintain) a globally aligned and fact-based view around competitive offerings accounting for regional market contexts
    • Educating regional marketing, pricing and sales leads on product and service positioning
    • Define the product hierarchy and product groupings
    • Manage trade names and product nomenclature to maximize profitability

    Managing pricing strategy and pricing execution (including equipment)

    • Ownership of list prices and target prices within the region
    • Provide input on initial list, target, and floor prices for new products
    • Play a prominent advisory role in developing pricing strategies rules in the regions working closely with regional pricing leads

    Reducing product costs by making right products at right assets (coordinate with supply chain):

    • Ensuring that right products are made at the right plants. This includes providing strong guidance to supply chain on management of product wheels for manufacturing assets
    • Establishing a regional supply strategy for raw materials, feedstock and finished products to achieve lowest costs and reliable supply; Support selection/procurement of raw materials. Execution of these activities on routine bases will rest with supply chain and procurement.
    • Manage key relationships with 3rd party suppliers that are integral in the success of assigned product line(s). Execution of these activities on routine bases will rest with supply chain and procurement.

    Partnering with sales in key deals/proposal development to increase win rate:

    • For select mid-level deals or campaigns in key growth platforms, regional product managers will bring product and industry depth and help the sales and marketing teams in developing winning proposals.
    • Coaching the sales and marketing teams on product attributes and strengths/weaknesses against competitive offers.
    • For high value deals/campaigns this may involve visiting the customers to increase our win rate.

    While the following key activities are led by marketing organization, regional product managers are expected to play a strong coaching role to enable successful execution:

    • Prioritizing segments identify right products & operationalize growth agenda with business
    • Guiding development of new products and commercialization (coordinate with R&D)


    • Bachelor’s degree or better in a technical field
    • 3-5+ years’ experience in the product lines you would be responsible for and exposure to pricing process is necessary
    • Candidates with technical applications and sales experience is preferred
    • Strategic thinker and problem solver who has the ability to apply analytic solutions to business problems
    • Strong time and cross-functional people management skills;
    • Excellent communication, presentation, analytical and leadership skills, ability to motivate team members
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across multiple teams
    • Strong written and oral presentation skills (in English)
    • Industry and customer literate or ability to pick up Solenis markets and technologies quickly
    • Knowledge of marketing and pricing fundamentals
    • Profitability and growth orientation; does not hesitate in challenging sales force when required; Willingness and mindset to get into details
    • Sufficient financial skills to utilize the decision support systems to interface with the sales and marketing organizations to drive specific action plans and programs.
